A Child Who Listens
...to directions without interrupting.
....to stories and poems for 5-10 minutes without restlessness.
A Child Who Hears
...similarities in words and sounds.
...(some are beginning to hear) rhyming words.
...words that begin with the same sound.
A Child Who Sees
...likenesses and differences in objects, pictures and designs.
...(some are beginning to see) letters and words that match.
A Child Who Understands
...the relationship of such words as up and down, top and bottom, big and little, on and off.
...the classification of words and pictures that represent people, places and things.
...colors, can count to 10, can tell how many.
...is beginning to recognize simple shapes.
...the world around him.
A Child Who speaks Clearly
...stays on topic in group discussions.
...retell a story or poem in correct sequence (what comes first/last).
...ask for needs and wants.
A Child Who Thinks
...gives the main idea of a story.
...gives unique ideas and important details.
...gives reasons for his/her opinions.
...solves simple everyday problems.
